information for providers | support | terms and conditions | product checklist | statistics | feedback Fermilab Computer Professionals, Physicists and Engineers develop many software packages in support of the High Energy Physics program here at the laboratory. The Fermilab Computing Division has a coordinated effort (Fermitools) to offer such software to the internet community, with the goal of entering into collaboration with interested and committed users in the deployment, joint development, and support of software of mutual benefit. Such collaborations will enhance Fermilab's ability to continue its program of development of such tools and applications. Each of the software packages in this collection has been used internally at Fermilab and our collaborating institutions and continue to undergo active development as a consequence of their importance to the laboratory's mission. Fermilab does not have the resources to make these packages available on other platforms and environments other than those used locally. However, this does not preclude their usefulness in other, similar, environments. In fact, one benefit of such a program would be if users ported the software to other platforms than Fermilab can provide. With this program, Fermilab is extending its responsibility to continue the development and support of quality software, and hopes to benefit a wider community with its efforts.
