Abstract
Misweb is a web server based Common Gateway Interface (CGI) script, which allows
web users to query an Oracle database directly from their web browser. By simply
creating an HTML form with a few appropriately named variables, users can create
their own web query pages.
Misweb provides multiple means of accessing your database from the web.
Pre-developed HTML query pages are served on any web server, which designate which
database and tables to query. These pages may limit the queries to certain fields
and records, or may allow the user to dynamically build their own query by picking
the options of their choice. These pages also allow the user to view the complete
SQL statement that would be executed or to make a new web page that contains all
the variables required to achieve the same selections just queried.
Misweb is installed on the web server. Clients using Misweb query pages to access
their database need only use their standard web browser. No additional software is
required on the client.
Query page developers may house their web pages on the same web server as Misweb,
on their own web server, or even on their local client machine. All that's needed
is a call to the Misweb CGI script when the web form is submitted and the database
query will return results to your browser.
